Custom Kydex Walther PDP Holsters

Most pistols need one answer to be holstered correctly. The PDP needs two, and giving us only one is how people end up with a shell that is almost right.

Barrel length is the obvious variable — 3.5, 4 or 5 inches. Frame is the one that gets skipped, because a standard PDP and an F-Series PDP wearing the same barrel are not the same pistol. Four lines, arranged below as the grid they actually form.

Two of the four squares are empty, which is worth knowing before you go looking. There is no standard-frame 3.5 in line and no F-Series 5 in line in our model list today. If that is what you own, get in touch before ordering rather than picking the nearest square — we would rather tell you honestly than press something that sits wrong.

Because the four lines share a name and a look, the assumption is that they mostly interchange. Length rules out more of it than people expect, and frame rules out the rest.

Length is the hard limit and frame is the fine one. A wrong length simply will not work; a wrong frame will close and then disappoint you slowly.

A Full Rail on Every Line, F-Series Included

This is the easy part of the PDP. Every line carries a proper accessory rail on a duty-size dust cover, and that holds for the F-Series too — Walther reduced the grip, not the rail. There are fifty-three light and laser entries to pick from, and a PDP is big enough for most of them:

  • Streamlight TLR-1 and TLR-1 HL-X, the common duty pairing on a four or five-inch gun
  • Streamlight TLR-7 and TLR-7 HL-X, better proportioned on a 3.5 in F-Series
  • SureFire X300U A and B, where the light doubles as a support-hand index
  • Olight PL-2 Pro or a Modlite PL350 if output is the priority

Optics. Walther put the PDP into optics-ready form early, so most you will meet are milled for a micro dot. Where yours is, the top of the shell is opened up enough for a shielded housing to run through clear of everything, and your line does not change because of it. Tall irons fitted to co-witness are the separate item — those sit above the housing and want the cut carried deeper.

Walther changed the half of the pistol you hold and left the half you hang things off alone. That is why the F-Series still takes the same lights and optics but gets its own shell — the grip is where a holster meets the frame, and reducing its circumference moves that contact. Two Questions Deserve Two Answers

A catalogue holster asks for your model and stops there. On a range that varies along two axes at once, one answer leaves the other to chance, and chance is what produces a shell that closes but never feels settled:

  • Length and frame are recorded separately on every order, so a four-inch standard and a four-inch F-Series never come off the same buck.
  • Where a square in the grid has no line behind it, we say so on this page rather than letting you order the nearest thing and find out later.
  • The rail and the optic cut are treated as unchanged across frames, because they are — the F-Series differences sit in the grip and the slide spring, not the mounting points.

Walther PDP Holster Questions

Order the F-Series line if that is the pistol you own, and tell us if you are unsure. Walther built the F-Series around a smaller hand, cutting the grip circumference and shortening the trigger reach to 2.56 inches, and lightening the slide racking effort by roughly a fifth. The grip is a surface the shell contacts, so we press the F lines separately rather than folding them into the standard patterns. If you have already bought a standard-frame shell and want to know whether it will do, ask us instead of guessing.
Four lines in total across two frames. On the standard frame we carry 4 inch and 5 inch; on the F-Series frame we carry 3.5 inch and 4 inch. That leaves two combinations we do not currently list — a standard 3.5 inch and an F-Series 5 inch. If either of those is what you own, get in touch before ordering rather than choosing the closest option, and we will tell you honestly what we can do.
Physically yes, and we would still steer you away from it. A four-inch pistol leaves an inch of empty shell ahead of the barrel, and the tension points end up bearing on the slide well behind where they were shaped to sit. That is a compromise rather than a fit, and on a duty-size pistol you will feel it move. The two lengths have separate lines here, so order the number printed on your slide.
In the hand the difference is obvious once you know to look for it — the F-Series grip is slimmer around, and the reach from the backstrap to the trigger face is shorter. The model marking and the original box both identify it as well. If you bought yours used and cannot tell, photograph the grip from the rear and send it over. We will name the line before anything is cut rather than have you find out after it ships.
Yes. Walther reduced the grip and the slide effort, and left the accessory rail alone, so an F-Series carries the same weapon lights a standard PDP does. A Streamlight TLR-7 is nicely proportioned on the 3.5 inch version, while a TLR-1 or a SureFire X300U suits the longer guns. Whichever light you run, name the exact model when ordering, because it is formed into the shell as part of the pistol shape rather than accommodated afterwards.
Most PDPs leave the factory cut for a micro red dot, and that has no bearing on which square of the grid you sit in. Where yours is milled, we take the sight channel deep enough that a shielded optic housing travels through it without contact — a four-inch PDP with a dot is still the four-inch line. The exception worth flagging separately is suppressor-height irons fitted to co-witness through the window, which stand above the housing and need the cut carried deeper again.
Not on the pistol shell. A PDP magazine drops clear beneath the frame and never meets the shell, so one holster covers whichever body is loaded. The spare carrier is a different matter, because a moulded pouch grips the magazine itself and the flush and extended versions measure differently. Tell us which one you actually carry as a spare and we will form the pouch around that.
The Triton 2.0 inside-the-waistband build is $60, the Chronos 2 paddle is $75 and a double magazine pouch is $60, with a weapon light adding $20. Expect 10 to 14 business days, because each shell is formed once the order reaches the bench. All four PDP lines are tooled, so the wait is production time rather than mold-making.
