Taurus Holsters
Custom Kydex Taurus Holsters
A G2c and a G3c both list a 3.2 inch barrel. They will not wear the same holster. Taurus redrew the slide underneath a number that never changed, and that is the single most expensive assumption made about this brand.
So on these 8 configurations the spec sheet is the wrong place to look. We press to the shape of the gun rather than the figure printed beside it — and on the G-series, compatibility only runs one way.

3.2 in
G2c and G3c alike
An identical figure on two pistols whose slides are shaped differently enough to matter.

Taurus fitments
Small for a brand this popular, and every one of them gets asked about constantly.
One-way
How G-series fit runs
A short gun will sit in a long shell. A long gun will never sit in a short one.
$50
Where builds start
A sensibly priced pistol still deserves a shell pressed to its actual outline.
Fitment
Same Number, Different Shape
Taurus has revised this range faster than almost anyone, and the naming did not keep pace. Guns a generation apart share figures, guns with different figures share frames, and the compatibility between them is not symmetrical.
Find your exact marking below. If your slide says G2c, that is not a G3c, whatever the barrel length suggests.
G-Series Compacts — Where the Numbers Mislead
The two that cause the confusion. Matching barrel lengths on the page, different slide profiles in the hand, and no shared shell between them despite everything the catalogue implies.
G3 — The Full-Size
The duty-size member of the family, noticeably longer in both the slide and the frame. Its extra length is what creates the one-way relationship with the compacts below it.
GX Series — The New Micros
Taurus’s current run at deep concealment, and a range that grew sideways in a hurry. Four lines separated mostly by grip length, each pressed on its own buck.

- GX4 XL
TX22 — Rimfire
The .22 that outsold expectations and now gets carried and competed with in numbers. A long, light frame that shares its outline with nothing else on this page.
- TX22
Deep dive: the Taurus G3c holster page maps the whole G-series — which of these fit each other, in which direction, and why.
Not sure whether yours is a G2c or a G3c? The slide serrations and the frame texture changed between them. Send us a photo from the side and we will tell you which you are holding.
Certain which Taurus you own?
Choose that exact line, tell us your hand and any light, and the shell gets cut around the outline rather than the spec.
Carry Style
Taurus Holsters by Carry Style
Nearly everything here was designed to be carried rather than admired, and most of it is compact enough to conceal without much argument.

Light & Optic Ready
Rails Where You Expect Them, Optics Where You Might Not
The G-series and the TX22 all carry an accessory rail under the dust cover, so a light is straightforward on most of this range. Size it to the gun: a compact body such as the Streamlight TLR-7 Sub suits a G3c or a GX4, while a full-size G3 or a TX22 will carry a TLR-1 without looking ridiculous.
The micros are the ones to check. Rail length on the GX range is short, so tell us the exact light and we will confirm it clears before anything is cut rather than after.

Optic-ready is more common here than people expect. Taurus put optic cuts across much of this line while the rest of the budget market was still catching up, and our shells for those guns are pressed with a sight channel that clears a shielded micro dot. Mention the optic when you order, and mention taller irons separately — they sit above the dot housing and need more room cut for them.

Popular Builds
Taurus-Ready Holsters
Three builds that suit this range. Each presses to any Taurus line above once you name the exact model and generation.
Triton Series IWB Holster
$50
Our starting point, and proof that a sensibly priced pistol does not need a compromised shell to go with it.
Proteus Series IWB Holster
$60
Rides deeper in the waistband, which hides the squared-off grip the G-series carries better than a higher mount does.
Gemini Series Dual Layer IWB Holster
$70
Two bonded layers, so the mouth stays open after the draw and the shell keeps its shape through a long carry rotation.
Why Neptune
A Value Pistol Is Not a Reason for a Vague Holster
Guns at this price point attract a particular kind of holster — one sold as fitting a whole list of pistols at once. That works by leaving room everywhere, and room everywhere is exactly what retention is not. Three things we do differently:
- Every generation in the G-series gets its own buck, because a redrawn slide behind an unchanged barrel figure is precisely the case a shared shell cannot cover.
- The GX micros are pressed individually rather than grouped by size, since grip length is the only thing separating several of them and it lands where the shell closes.
- Where two of our lines genuinely do overlap, we say which direction the overlap runs instead of leaving you to find out on the belt.

FAQ
Taurus Holster Questions
Tell Us the Marking, Not the Barrel Length
On this brand the figure on the spec sheet is the least useful thing you can give us. Read what is stamped on the slide and we will press to that.
