Ruger RXM Holsters
Custom Kydex Ruger RXM Holsters
Almost nobody arrives at this page asking which RXM they own — there is only one. They arrive asking whether the Glock 19 holster already in the drawer will do.
The honest answer is usually, but not always, and the reason is worth two minutes of your time. Ruger built the slide to an existing standard and then had Magpul redesign the frame, so the top of this pistol is familiar and the bottom of it is not.

Gen 3
Slide pattern
Built to the long-established Glock standard, which is why so much hardware crosses over.
Magpul
Who designed the frame
And the frame is the half that differs, with a relieved guard and a beavertail added.
Most
G19 shells that fit
Most is not all, and on a carry gun the difference shows up as movement rather than a refusal.

Your Configuration
One Model, Several Things That Vary
There is a single RXM line in our selector, so the usual which-variant question does not apply. What does apply is that Ruger built this pistol to be changed — so tell us what has been changed on yours.
| What varies | Whether it reaches the shell | What to tell us |
|---|---|---|
| The grip module | Yes, and it is the single most important thing on this list. The Magpul frame relieves the trigger guard and adds a beavertail, and that is precisely where a shell meets the frame. | If you have swapped to a different module or size |
| The slide | Yes, if it is not the standard length. The factory slide follows the Glock Gen 3 pattern and our RXM shell is pressed around it. | Whether it is factory or aftermarket |
| A red dot | Only the sight channel, not the body of the shell. | The optic model, and any taller irons fitted |
| A weapon light | Yes — a light is molded in as part of the pistol shape, not accommodated around it. | The exact light model |
| The magazine | No. It takes Glock-pattern double-stack 9mm bodies, and all of them sit below the shell. | Only for a matching spare carrier |
The serialised part on this pistol is a removable stainless insert rather than the frame, which is what allows the grip module to be changed at all. That is a paperwork detail rather than a fitment one — the shell only cares about the module currently bolted around it. Tell us what is on the gun today and that is what we press to.
Cross-Fit
Will a Glock 19 Holster Fit a Ruger RXM?
The question this pistol was born with, answered without the hedging. Ruger designed the RXM to work with the Glock Gen 3 ecosystem, and it largely does — but holsters are the one accessory category where largely is not the same as reliably.
| Firearm | Shares this shell? | What to order |
|---|---|---|
| A generic Glock 19 Gen 3 holster | Ask us | Most will take it, because the slide follows the same pattern. The ones that fail grip high on the frame, where the relieved trigger guard and beavertail change the shape. |
| Our own Glock 19 shell | Ask us | Tell us before ordering and we will say which of our patterns suits you. We would rather sell you the right one than the one you asked for. |
| RXM running Glock-pattern or Magpul GL9 magazines | Yes | Magazines drop below the frame and never contact the shell. Only your spare carrier needs to match the body you carry. |
| RXM with a red dot fitted | Yes | Same shell, with the sight channel cut to clear a shielded optic. Say if taller irons are fitted to co-witness. |
| RXM with a different Magpul grip module | Ask us | Changing the module changes the frame profile, which is the half of this pistol a shell is most sensitive to. |
| A Glock 17 or Glock 45 holster | No | Longer slides. The RXM stops short of the closed end and the muzzle finishes with nothing supporting it. |
| Any other Ruger — Max-9, LCP, SR9 | No | The RXM shares its outline with nothing else in Ruger’s range. Those are separate lines with separate molds. |
If you already own a Glock 19 and are adding an RXM, the Glock 19 holster page covers that side of the comparison — and neither gun should be carried in a shell pressed for the other without checking.
Rather not gamble on a near-fit?
We hold a dedicated RXM pattern. Give us your optic, light and hand and it gets cut around the pistol you actually own.
Carry Style
Carrying a Compact Striker Gun
Proportionally this sits where the compact striker class has settled for a decade — big enough to shoot properly, small enough to hide under a shirt.

Lights & Optics
The Rail Is Standard, So the Whole List Is Open

Unlike most of Ruger’s range, this one has a proper accessory rail under the dust cover, and it is a compact-service-size frame — which means you are not restricted to sub-compact light bodies. From our 53 light and laser options, these all suit an RXM:
- Streamlight TLR-7 and TLR-7 HL-X, the most common choice on a gun this size
- Streamlight TLR-1 and TLR-1 HL-X, if you want the output and can carry the length
- SureFire X300U A and B, the duty-weight option
- Olight PL Mini 3 or a Baldr S, where a smaller body or a laser suits you better
Optics. The RXM slide is cut for a micro red dot, and our shell is pressed with a sight channel that clears a shielded housing. Mention the optic model when you order, and mention suppressor-height irons separately if you run them — those stand above the dot window and want more clearance than the optic body alone.

Recommended Builds
Popular RXM Configurations
Three builds suited to a compact striker pistol. Each is pressed to the RXM pattern, with your hardware specified on the product page.
Triton 2.0 Inside Waistband IWB Holster
$60
Twin clips and an adjustable claw, which is the combination that makes a full-height grip sit flat rather than pushing outward.
Hades Series IWB Sidecar Holster
$90
Carries pistol and reload on one platform, which is the sensible answer when the gun already ships with fifteen-round magazines.
Gemini Series Dual Layer IWB Holster
$70
A bonded two-layer shell with a stiffer mouth, so it holds its shape for a one-handed reholster under a belt.
Compare
Ruger RXM vs Glock 19, From a Holster’s Point of View
Not a review of either pistol — just the four things that decide whether one shell can hold both. Note that the two halves of this comparison point in opposite directions.
| Ruger RXM | Glock 19 | |
|---|---|---|
| Slide pattern | Built to the Glock Gen 3 standard | The original of that standard |
| Frame and trigger guard | Magpul module, guard relieved, beavertail added | Glock polymer frame, unmodified guard |
| Magazines | Glock-pattern double-stack 9mm | Glock double-stack 9mm |
| Serialised component | A removable insert inside the frame | The frame itself |
| Same holster pattern? | Often, not always — ask | Its own line |
The slide says yes and the frame says maybe. Because retention is taken along the slide and forward of the trigger guard, plenty of Glock 19 shells hold an RXM perfectly well — but any shell that grips high on the frame runs into the reshaped guard and beavertail, and that is not something you want to discover while carrying. We press a dedicated RXM pattern for exactly that reason. If you own both, see the Glock 19 page and order each gun its own.
Why Neptune
Near-Compatible Is the Worst Case
An outright mismatch is easy — the gun does not go in and you send the holster back. A near-fit is the dangerous one, because it closes, it feels acceptable in the shop, and it works loose over months of carry. That is the exact category this pistol falls into:
- The RXM gets its own mold rather than being folded into an existing pattern from another manufacturer, however close the slide happens to be.
- Where a customer already owns a shell from the other platform, we would rather talk it through first than take an order that might disappoint six months later.
- Retention is set on the shell we actually pressed, so the tension you adjust at home is fine-tuning rather than compensation for the wrong shape.
