Three pistols, one family name, and a compatibility map that runs in one direction only. That is what makes this range harder to shop for than its price suggests.

Your G3c will drop into a shell built for the full-size G3. It will not go near one built for a G2c, even though both guns list the same barrel length. Below is the whole map, with the arrows pointing the way they actually point.

Which G-Series Are You Holding?

Start with the slide marking, because on this family the measurements will not separate them for you. If the marking has worn, the serration pattern and the frame texture changed between the G2c and the G3c — those are the visual tells.

The PT111 G2 and the G2c are the same pistol under two names, so either marking points at the same line in our selector. The step from there to the G3c is the one that is not a small increment, whatever the naming implies. Send a side-on photo and we will identify it before anything gets cut.

This is the part worth reading twice, because the relationships here are not reciprocal. A shorter gun entering a longer shell is not the same proposition as the reverse, and one of those two is simply impossible.

These are squared-off pistols with a fairly blocky grip, and how you mount them matters more than it would on something rounder.

A Rail Comes Standard, So Size It to the Gun

Every G-series pistol carries an accessory rail under the dust cover, which puts the whole light list in play. The only real decision is proportion — a compact gun wearing a duty-size light stops concealing and starts announcing. Fifty-three lights and lasers sit on our list, and these are the ones proportioned for a compact G-series:

  • Streamlight TLR-7 and TLR-7 Sub, the proportionate choice on a compact frame
  • Streamlight TLR-6, which clamps on where rail space is tight
  • Olight PL Mini 2 or PL Mini 3, if you prefer a shorter body still
  • Streamlight TLR-1 on a full-size G3, where the frame can carry the length

Optic cuts arrived on this range earlier than the price suggested. Where your slide is milled for a micro red dot, our shell is pressed with a channel that clears a shielded housing, and that does not change which line you order. Flag taller iron sights separately if you have fitted them to co-witness, since they stand above the optic and need more clearance than it does.

Two identical numbers, two incompatible holsters. The G2c and G3c line up perfectly on barrel length and diverge on the one dimension a spec sheet never prints — the shape of the slide. That is why we press them apart, and why the honest instruction on this brand is to read the marking rather than the measurement. Directional Fit Is Still Not a Fit

Plenty of makers will tell you a G3c works in their G3 holster and leave it there. It does go in — but a pistol sitting in a shell an inch too long is being held in the wrong place, and that is worth saying out loud rather than selling around:

  • Each generation is pressed on its own buck, so retention grips the slide where it was designed to rather than wherever the gun happens to stop.
  • Where a shell physically accepts a shorter pistol, we describe that as a compromise instead of listing it as compatibility.
  • The claw is set for the grip shape actually in front of us, which on a squared-off frame changes how much rotation you get for the same belt pressure.

Taurus G3c Holster Questions

No, in either direction. This is the most common mistake on the brand and the barrel length is what causes it — both pistols are listed at 3.2 inches, so they read as the same size. Taurus reshaped the slide when it moved from the G2c to the G3c, and the frames differ too, so a shell pressed around one does not close properly on the other. We hold them as separate lines. Read the marking on your slide, not the figure in the catalogue.
It will go in, and we would still rather you did not rely on it. The G3c is the shorter pistol by roughly an inch overall, so a full-size shell accepts it — but the muzzle finishes short of the closed end with nothing supporting it, and the retention points end up gripping further forward than they were designed to. As a stopgap it works. As a carry setup it is a compromise you can feel over a full day. Order the G3c line and the shell is built around the right gun.
Never. This is the direction that simply does not work, and it is worth being clear about because the reverse does. The full-size G3 runs 7.28 inches overall against the G3c at 6.30, so it is close to an inch too long to enter a compact shell at all. There is no tension screw or break-in period that changes that. If you carry both pistols, each one needs its own holster.
Yes, and our selector treats them as one line. Taurus sold the pistol as the PT111 G2 and later renamed it the G2c without changing the gun, so a shell pressed for either marking holds the other without issue. The confusion only starts at the next step up, where the G3c looks like a small increment on the name and turns out to be a genuinely different pistol. Order the G2C line if your slide carries either name.
No. The fifteen-round bodies and the grip extensions built for this pistol all extend downward past the base of the frame, well clear of the surfaces the Kydex actually grips, so the holster behaves identically either way. Where it does matter is the spare carrier, since a moulded pouch is pressed around one specific magazine body and the twelve and fifteen-round versions are different lengths. Tell us which you carry.
The compact bodies. Every G-series pistol has an accessory rail, so mounting is not the constraint — proportion is. A Streamlight TLR-7 or TLR-7 Sub sits right on a compact frame, the TLR-6 clamps on where rail space is tight, and the Olight PL Mini range is shorter again. Save the full-size TLR-1 for a G3. Whichever you choose, name the exact model at checkout, because the light is molded into the shell as part of the pistol.
Yes. Where your slide is milled for a micro optic, we press the shell with a sight channel that clears a shielded housing, and it does not change which line you order — a G3c with a dot is still the G3c pattern. The detail worth adding at checkout is your iron sights: if you have fitted suppressor-height fronts to co-witness through the optic window, those stand taller than the optic body and the channel has to be opened further to clear them.
The Triton 2.0 inside-the-waistband build is $60, the two-tone Theseus that mounts either way is $85, and an inside-the-waistband magazine pouch is $25. A weapon light is a $20 option. Allow 10 to 14 business days, since nothing here is pre-made. All three G-series lines are already tooled, so the wait is production rather than mold-making.
