A P320 is three decisions stacked on one serialised chassis. Answer all three and the shell is settled; answer only the first and you have narrowed it to two guns. The right-hand column is the line to choose in the configurator.

Fastest way to settle it yourself: measure from the breech face to the muzzle, then look at whether your grip has a flared, scalloped magazine opening. A flare means an X-series module. Then check the left side of the frame above the trigger for a lever. Those three answers name your pistol better than the box it came in.

None of this is a criticism of the design — being able to rebuild a pistol without paperwork is the best thing about it. It just means a P320 order needs a sentence describing the gun as it currently sits, and a model name alone is not that sentence.

The Slide Is a Part, Not a Model

Because the slide unbolts from the chassis, what is on top of your P320 today may be nothing like what left the factory with it. Plenty of owners buy a plain gun and fit an X-series slide later. So we ask about the hardware rather than infer it from the name. The rail underneath is a full-length one, which opens the whole light range:

Red dots. P320 slides reach us cut three different ways — factory optic-ready with a plate stack, aftermarket milled direct to the footprint, or an X-series slide swapped on whole. The Compact and the Carry are the pair worth staring at. Identical slide, identical barrel, different module, different shell — and they are the two most often ordered as each other. If you take one thing from this page, take that the grip module is not cosmetic on a P320. It is half of what your holster grips.

It would be cheaper to cut two shells, call them “compact” and “full size”, and let tolerance cover the rest. Several shops do. Here is what the eight buys you instead:

  • A shell that indexes on your grip module rather than clearing every module SIG has ever sold, so the claw sits where it can actually work.
  • Room cut for a thumb safety only where a thumb safety exists, instead of a permanent hollow on every shell in case yours has one.
  • A pattern that stays correct when you rebuild the gun, because you can order the new configuration rather than living with the old shell.

SIG P320 Holster Questions

No, even though the slides are the same. SIG sells one barrel for both, listed as the P320 Compact and Carry 3.9 inch, so from the ejection port up the two pistols are identical. The Carry uses a full-size grip module while the Compact uses the shorter one, and our shell wraps the frame where it meets the trigger guard. That is on the module, not on the slide, so the two need separate patterns.
Order for the pistol as it is assembled now, not for what the serial number says. The fire control unit is the registered firearm and it keeps its identity through any number of rebuilds, but Kydex has no opinion about paperwork. If a Compact slide is now sitting in a full-size module, order the Carry pattern. If you have gone to an aftermarket module from Grayguns, Wilson or Icarus, tell us the maker, because those change the frame profile in ways SIG modules do not.
Possibly, and it depends on one thing: the safety. The M17 uses the same 4.7 inch slide and full-size module as a standard Full Size, so the outline matches. What differs is the manual thumb lever on the frame, which sits at the height the shell closes. A shell pressed without relief for it will bear on the lever. Tell us whether your gun has the safety and we will press accordingly.
Slide length, mostly. The M17 runs a 4.7 inch barrel with an 8.0 inch overall length at about 29.4 ounces; the M18 runs 3.9 inches, 7.2 inches overall, and around 26 ounces. Both wear the coyote finish and both carry the manual thumb safety that separates them from the commercial guns. For holster purposes treat them as two different pistols that happen to share a family resemblance, because the three quarters of an inch is all at the muzzle.
Yes, and the XTen Comp is a selector line already. A compensator extends the pistol past where the muzzle would normally end and usually adds width too, so it is not something a standard shell absorbs. It has to be part of the mold. If you have added an aftermarket comp to a gun that did not ship with one, send us the make and model, or a photo alongside a ruler, and we will build around the assembled length.
We do, as the X5 Full line. It carries a 5 inch slide, the longest P320 we press for, and an X-series module with the flared magwell underneath. Both ends of that matter: the extra slide changes where the shell closes at the muzzle, and the flare changes where a concealment claw can bear against the grip. It is a competition gun by design, so most X5 orders come through as outside-the-waistband builds.
Yes, across all eight configurations and at the same price as right-handed. Left-hand shells come off a mirrored mold rather than a right-hand shell with the hardware swapped over, which matters more than usual here because the M17 and M18 safety lever is on one side. Choose Left under Hand in the configurator and mention the safety if you have one.
Concealment builds run $60 to $90, with the Triton 2.0 at $60 covering most Compact and Carry orders and the Veritas at $75 for quick-detach outside the belt. Duty rigs are more: the Zeus Level 2 with active retention is $130. Everything is made after you order, on a ten to fourteen business day window. Confirming your configuration up front is what keeps it inside that window.
