Custom Kydex M&P 2.0 Holsters
This one is refreshingly simple to order, provided you look at the right thing. The M&P M2.0 is one pistol with a family of muzzles — Smith sells it at 3.6, 4, 4.25 and 5 inches, and a Kydex shell stops precisely where the barrel does. Everything above the trigger guard stays put; the front of the holster moves.
So we do not need to know the calibre, the backstrap you fitted or how many magazines came in the box. We need the number stamped near the muzzle.

The Number Near the Muzzle Is the Order
Smith names these by size class in marketing and by barrel length on the gun, which is why “M&P Compact” arrives here meaning two different pistols depending on who is speaking. We order by the measurement, because that is what the front of a shell has to match.

Cannot find a marking? Measure from the breech face to the muzzle with the slide forward, or just tell us the model number from the box. Being roughly right is not good enough here, since two of these lengths sit only a quarter inch apart.

What Moves the Shell and What Does Not
The M&P is unusually generous here. Most of the things owners change on this pistol happen behind the trigger guard, where a waistband holster has no contact at all.

The backstrap row is worth dwelling on, because it is the one thing owners most often mention and the one that matters least. Those inserts exist to change how the pistol sits in your hand, and your hand is the only thing they affect. Fit whichever one suits you; the shell is specified by barrel length and nothing else.

A Full-Length Rail, and What That Permits
Unlike the slim guns in this catalogue, the M&P M2.0 carries a proper accessory rail under the dust cover on every length. That opens up the duty-weight bodies rather than restricting you to compact units:
- Streamlight TLR-1 HL and TLR-1 HPL for belt-worn and duty builds
- Streamlight TLR-7 and TLR-7A where the pistol is carried concealed
- SureFire X300U-A and X300U-B across all four barrel lengths
- Olight PL-2 and Baldr Pro on the compact frames
Red dots. The optics-ready M2.0 slides use a plate system, so the sight sits at a height determined by the plate as much as the housing. Tell us the dot and the plate together and the channel is cut to that stack rather than to a generic clearance.
Shown here is a light-bearing build. Where a light is fitted the shell wraps the pistol and the light as a single shape, which is why the model of light matters as much as the model of gun.

Read the top row and ignore the rest. Rail, backstraps and controls are constant across the line, which is genuinely helpful — it means almost nothing you do to this pistol affects the holster. What does affect it is the 1.4 inches between the shortest and the longest barrel, and a shell that closes around a muzzle cannot absorb any of that.

Four Molds Instead of One Compromise
It would be cheaper for us to press one M&P shell with the muzzle end left open and call it universal. Plenty do. Here is what pressing four separate lengths buys you instead:
- A closed muzzle end on every length, so the pistol is indexed at both ends rather than hanging from the trigger guard alone.
- No dead space in front of the barrel to collect lint, damp and whatever else lives in a waistband.
- Consistent retention regardless of length, because each shell was formed on the pistol it is meant for rather than on the longest one in the family.
