Custom Kydex Glock 26 Holsters

The 26 is the Glock that borrows. Feed it a fifteen-round magazine from a 19 or a seventeen from a 17 and it takes both without complaint, which is why so many owners treat it as a compact that shrinks on demand. All of that happens below the frame, where no holster has ever reached.

Above the frame it is its own pistol — 3.43 inches of barrel in a body a third of an inch shorter than a Glock 19, with no accessory rail anywhere on it. That combination is what our shell is cut around.

Which Generation, and Is It MOS?

Four generations of 26 are in circulation and the differences are mostly in your hand rather than in the shell — finger grooves came and went, the grip texture changed, the Gen 5 dropped the grooves and reworked the frame profile. We still ask, because the front of the frame is not identical across them and this is a small shell with little room to absorb a variation.

Magazines, MOS Slides and the Glock 27

Two very different questions get asked about this pistol, and they have opposite answers. Magazine changes are invisible to the Kydex. Calibre changes are not.

The Glock 27 deserves its own note. It shares a frame footprint and a barrel length with the 26, so the assumption that one holster covers both is understandable — but the .40 slide is genuinely wider, and on a subcompact that difference is the whole retention budget. We do not currently press a 27 pattern. If you carry one, message us; demand is what decides which molds get cut next.

A Light Here Sits on the Trigger Guard

The 26 has no accessory rail on the dust cover, in any generation. That is why the lights built for this pistol clamp around the trigger guard instead — and why they matter to us far more than a rail-mounted light would. The trigger guard is the surface our shell takes retention from, so adding a unit there rewrites the press rather than adding to it:

  • Streamlight TLR-6 in its Glock 26, 27 and 33 body, mounted on the trigger guard
  • Crimson Trace and Viridian clamp-on lasers cut for the subcompact frame
  • Rail adapters such as the Recover Tactical GR26, which bolt on to create a rail that was never there
  • Nothing that assumes a factory rail — a TLR-7 or an X300 has no mounting surface on this gun

Red dots. The Gen 5 MOS brought a factory cut to the 26 and Glock publishes it at the same overall length, height and barrel length as the standard Gen 5, so the pistol itself has not grown. Only the sight track changes, and we cut it to the housing you tell us about rather than to a shape that clears everything.

Look at the slide width row, not the length rows. The 26 and the 27 match on barrel and overall length, which is what convinces people they share a holster, and then diverge by eight thousandths of an inch across the slide — enough that a shell pressed for one grips the other wrongly. The Glock 19 is the honest comparison instead: same width, more of everything else, and its own pattern on our bench.

Why a Short Shell Is Harder to Get Right

A subcompact gives a holster maker less of everything — less slide to index against, less frame to close around, less room for error. What we do about that on this pattern:

  • Retention pulled from the trigger guard and the front of the frame together, because neither one alone offers enough surface on a body this short.
  • A mouth band that holds its shape after the draw, so the gun goes back in without a second hand steadying the Kydex.
  • Generation-specific pressing, which is why we ask — a frame profile revision that would vanish on a full-size gun is measurable here.

Glock 26 Holster Questions

Ours does not, and we would rather say so than take the order. The two pistols share a frame footprint, a 3.43 inch barrel and a 6.42 inch overall length, so the confusion is well earned. But Glock lists the Gen 5 slide at 1.00 inch on the 26 and 1.08 inches on the 27. On a subcompact that eight thousandths is most of the retention tolerance, so a 26 shell grips a 27 badly. We do not currently press a dedicated 27 pattern — message us if you want one.
Yes, and this is one of the best features of the pistol. A fifteen-round Glock 19 magazine or a seventeen-round Glock 17 magazine seats fully and protrudes below the frame, giving you a full grip on a subcompact slide. None of that reaches the holster, which wraps the slide and trigger guard well above the magazine well, so the gun draws and reholsters exactly as it did on ten rounds.
Not a conventional rail-mounted one, because the 26 has no accessory rail on its dust cover in any generation. The lights made for this pistol clamp around the trigger guard instead, the Streamlight TLR-6 in its 26, 27 and 33 body being the common choice, and there are bolt-on adapters such as the Recover Tactical GR26 that add a rail section. Any of those changes the shell substantially, since the trigger guard is where our retention comes from, so tell us before we press.
Enough that we ask. Across Gen 3, Gen 4 and Gen 5 the slide and barrel stay consistent, but finger grooves disappeared and the frame profile was revised on the Gen 5, and on a shell with this little surface area a frame change that a full-size pistol would absorb is measurable. Put the generation in your order notes and the shell gets pressed on the right buck. If you are not sure which you have, send a photo of the grip.
Yes. Glock publishes the Gen 5 MOS at the same overall length, height and barrel length as the standard Gen 5, so the body of the pistol is unchanged and the mold does not need to be. What changes is the sight channel, which we cut to clear the specific optic you are running. Name it when you order, because a Holosun 507K and a Trijicon RMR sit at noticeably different heights above the slide.
It is one of the better double-stack options for it. The short slide is what makes the difference, because the muzzle stops well before it can press into your thigh when you sit, which is the failure mode that pushes people away from appendix carry with a Glock 19. The trade is width — this is a full-thickness double stack, so a claw and a wedge are doing real work to keep the grip from showing.
Yes, priced the same as right-handed and pressed from a genuinely mirrored mold rather than a right-hand shell with the clip moved across. Select Left under Hand in the configurator. That applies to the sidecar builds too, where the spare magazine ends up on your support side — mention it if you want the magazine oriented a particular way in the carrier.
Most Glock 26 builds sit between $60 and $85 — the Triteia and the Proteus are both $60, and the dual-colour Theseus with a claw fitted is $85. Add a double-stack mag pouch from $25. Everything is cut to order on a ten to fourteen business day bench window. Naming your generation and your optic up front does not slow that down; discovering them after the press has closed is what does.
