FN Reflex Holsters
Custom Kydex FN Reflex Holsters
Look along a shelf of micro-compacts and the Reflex sits there looking like all of them. Open one up and it is the only gun in the row driven by a hammer rather than a striker.
That single decision let FN keep the slide slim and the bore low, and it left the pistol with proportions that match none of the guns it gets cross-shopped against. Which is why the shell in your drawer from the last micro almost certainly will not do.

3.3 in
Reflex barrel
Squarely in micro-compact territory, on a slide narrower than the internals usually allow.
3.8 in
Reflex XL barrel
Half an inch further forward, with a grip extended to match it.
Hammer
What drives it
Almost unique in this class, and the reason nothing else in the class shares its shape.
11 / 15
Magazines shipped
Against 15 and 18 on the XL, which tells you how much more grip there is to wrap.
Find Your Line
Reflex or Reflex XL?
Two lines, and unusually for a micro they are easy to tell apart once you have a magazine in hand. Count the rounds it holds and the answer follows immediately.
| Selector line | What sets it apart | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|
| FN Reflex | The original — a 3.3 in barrel, shipping with eleven and fifteen-round magazines on the shorter grip. | Your flush magazine holds eleven |
| FN Reflex XL | A 3.8 in barrel with the grip extended to match, shipping with fifteen and eighteen-round magazines. | Your flush magazine holds fifteen |
Both are hammer-fired with much the same trigger, so the feel will not separate them for you — the magazine will. If yours came with a mixed pair, go by the shorter of the two, since that is the flush-fit one for your frame. Send a photo if you would rather we confirmed it.

Why Another Micro-Compact Shell Will Not Do
This is the section that saves the most returns. The Reflex competes directly with a handful of very popular pistols, and buyers reasonably assume that guns sold against each other measure alike. Here is where that breaks down.
| Firearm | Shares this shell? | What to order |
|---|---|---|
| A shell pressed for a SIG P365 | No | A different platform with a different slide profile. Sold against the Reflex, shaped nothing like it. |
| A shell pressed for a Springfield Hellcat | No | Another striker micro in the same market segment, and another outline the Reflex does not match. |
| A shell pressed for a Glock 43X | No | Closest on grip length of the three, still a separate pattern at the slide. Not interchangeable. |
| Reflex XL in a standard Reflex shell | No | Half an inch more barrel and a longer grip. It overruns the front and sits proud at the back. |
| Reflex with the fifteen-round extended magazine | Yes | The extra body hangs below the frame and never meets the shell. Only your spare carrier changes. |
| Reflex MRD with a red dot fitted | Yes | No change to the pattern — the housing is cleared by a channel opened in the top of the shell. Taller irons need saying too. |
| Reflex wearing a compact weapon light | Ask us | Rail space is short on a micro. Name the exact light and we will confirm clearance before pressing. |
Being sold against a pistol and being shaped like it are unrelated. On micro-compacts the shell contacts a very small area, so a near-match has nowhere to hide.
Counted the rounds in your magazine?
That settles the line. Add your optic, light and hand and the shell gets pressed to the pistol rather than to the category.
Carry Style
Carrying a Slim Hammer-Fired Micro
The slim slide is the whole selling point of this pistol, and a bulky mount is the quickest way to spend it.

Lights & Optics
Short Rail, So the Light List Gets Short Too

A micro frame gives a light very little to bolt to, and anything overhanging the muzzle undoes the concealment the slim slide bought you. Stay compact. Of the fifty-three lights and lasers we mold for, only the compact bodies really belong on this pistol:
- Streamlight TLR-7 Sub, the body sized specifically for pistols in this class
- Streamlight TLR-6, which clamps rather than needing rail length to work with
- Streamlight TLR-8 Sub where a laser matters as much as the light does
- Olight PL Mini 2 or Baldr Mini, if a shorter body suits your carry position better
Optics. The MRD versions arrive already milled for a micro red dot, and we open the top of the shell far enough for a shielded housing to pass through cleanly. Neither of the two lines changes because of it. Tall irons remain the separate question — if yours rise above the optic so you can co-witness, that cut has to go deeper still.

Recommended Builds
Popular Reflex Configurations
Three that suit a slim micro. Each presses to either Reflex line — say which at checkout, along with your hand and clip.
Triton Series IWB Holster
$50
The least shell a micro needs and no more, which keeps the narrow slide doing the job you bought it to do.
Triteia Series IWB Holster
$60
A slim-profile inside-the-waistband build, cut close so it disappears behind a shirt rather than under a jacket.
Alpheus Series IWB
$60
A minimal single-clip shell for deep concealment, where every millimetre of shell thickness is worth arguing about.
Compare
FN Reflex vs FN Reflex XL
The two lines measured against each other. The pattern will look familiar if you have shopped micros before — FN grew the gun at both ends rather than one.
| FN Reflex | FN Reflex XL | |
|---|---|---|
| Barrel length | 3.3 in | 3.8 in |
| Magazines in the box | 11 and 15 round | 15 and 18 round |
| Grip | The shorter frame | Extended to match the longer slide |
| Action | Hammer-fired | Hammer-fired |
| Separate holster pattern? | Yes | Yes |
The action is the constant, the dimensions are not. Both lines share the hammer-fired design that makes the Reflex unusual, and that is exactly why neither can borrow a shell from a striker-fired rival — but they cannot borrow from each other either, because half an inch of slide and a taller grip move both ends of the shell. For the 509 range, the Tactical guns and the rest of the catalogue, see all FN holsters.
Why Neptune
A Category Is Not a Measurement
Micro-compacts get grouped together by price, capacity and marketing, and almost never by shape. That grouping is how people end up buying a shell built for a different pistol entirely. Three things that follow from taking the shape seriously:
- The Reflex is pressed on its own buck rather than sorted into a generic micro pattern, because sharing a segment with a gun is not the same as sharing an outline with it.
- Both lines are held apart, so the XL is never asked to sit in a shell that stops half an inch short of its muzzle.
- Retention is taken against the actual slide profile, which on a narrow hammer-fired pistol sits differently from the striker guns the class is built around.
